The Course: Course Map
Langland Bay was never designed as an ego course, where only long drivers could win the day over 18 broad fairways. There’s room for power players of course, as long as they carry ultimate confidence in their positional play, but they’ll need the full range of shots in the bag too, including a certain amount of psychology. Small greens sit in tempting corners, or perch on daunting slopes, better protected than the crown jewels, with sand or rough in the last places you want them. Undulating ground means variation off the tee could put your feet above or below the ball on your next shot, and over-clubbing on tight fairways will see you pulling out the local rules on drops and penalties, and wishing you had a strimmer handy. Add in the choice of weathers; searing summer sun and gentle zephyrs, or chilling ocean breezes carrying showers at an evil angle and you’ll know you’ve got a real golf course on your hands. Successful golfers at Langland Bay spend a great deal of time thinking during their game – unsuccessful players do it afterwards!
